India's two COVID-19 vaccines are in phase 1 and 2 of trials: Health Ministry
The Health Ministry on Tuesday said that the Centre is discussing how the coronavirus vaccine will be procured and distributed to all. Dr. VK Paul, Member (Health), NITI Aayog, said that "India's two COVID-19 vaccines are in phase 1 and 2 of trials. Discussions have already begun how will the vaccines be made available to all those who need it."
Also, Dr Sujeet Kumar Singh, Director, National Centre for Disease Control, said that "8 out of 11 districts have seroprevalence more than 20 percent. In central, northeast, north, and Shahdara districts have seroprevalence of about 27 percent."
He added that the sero surveillance was done in Delhi to estimate the prevalence of COVID-19 infection among the general community of Delhi. "Nearly 6 months into the pandemic, 22.86 percent people affected; 77 percent population susceptible, Surjeet added.
Rajesh Bhushan, OSD, Health Ministry, said that "Aggressive testing is necessary to bring down coronavirus positivity rate; the aim is to maintain this level of testing so as to bring down positivity rate below 5 percent."
The number of COVID deaths per million population in India continues to be among the lowest in the world," he added.

The Health Ministry also stated that 30 States/Union Territories have a positivity rate lower than India average while 19 States and Union Territories are performing more than 140 tests per day per million population.
