Amid a decline in Covid-19 cases, the District Disaster Management Authority (DDMA) has decided to reopen schools, colleges, coaching institutes, and gyms in Delhi, the sources said on Friday. Likewise, the duration of the night curfew has been reduced by one hour (between 11 pm and 5 am), the sources added. The Schools will open in a phased manner. The schools in Delhi for classes 9 to 12 will reopen from Feb 7. Teachers who aren't vaccinated will not be permitted, the source added. Schools will reopen from Feb 7 for Classes 9-12. Classes for Nursery to Class 8 will reopen from Feb 14. Hybrid classes will continue. Colleges will reopen from Monday, Feb 7 and they'll be asked to discourage online classes and have offline classes. Meanwhile, DDMA has allowed offices to function with 100 percent attendance in Delhi. The single drivers in cars have been exempted from mask mandate. Since Delhi schools have been allowed to reopen, the offline lectures would resume for students. However, those who are still willing to attend online classes are expected to continue. Punjab reports 1,514 fresh Covid cases, positivity rate at 4.37% Delhi school reopening was put off last week when DDMA had decided to ease some Covid restrictions, including the lifting of the night curfew. It was then decided that schools would continue with online classes and a decision on reopening of schools would be taken in the next meeting. Hence DDMA meeting was held on Friday.

In view of the massive learning loss, several parents were hoping for Delhi schools to reopen at the earliest.
