Covid India update: 7,219 new cases in last 24 hours

Covid India update: India logged 7,219 new coronavirus cases in the last 24 hours, said the Ministry of Health and Family Affairs on Saturday.

The active caseload of Covid 19 in India currently stands at 56,745, which accounts for 0.13 per cent of the total coronavirus cases. As per latest update, the recovery rate is 98.68 per cent. As many as 9,651 patients recovered from Covid in the last 24 hours, taking the total recoveries to 4,38,65,016.

On the Covid vaccination front, the government said more than 201.88 crore vaccines had been administered so far under the nationwide vaccination drive.

The Union Government is committed to accelerating the pace and expanding the scope of COVID-19 vaccination throughout the country. The nationwide vaccination started on January 16, 2021. The new phase of universalisation of Covid-19 vaccination commenced on June 21, 2021. The vaccination drive has been ramped up through the availability of more vaccines, advanced visibility of vaccine availability to states and UTs to enable better planning by them, and streamlining of the vaccine supply chain.

As part of the nationwide coronavirus vaccination drive, the Government of India has been supporting the states and UTs by providing them with vaccines free of cost. In the new phase of the universalisation of the COVID19 vaccination drive, the Union Government will procure and supply (free of cost) 75% of the vaccines being produced by the vaccine manufacturers in the country to states and UTs.
