Covid rears its head in Punjab again; Mohali and Ludhiana hotspots

Chandigarh, June 28: Covid19 cases have once again started increasing in Punjab. In the past 24 hours, three coronavirus-related deaths have been reported from Ferozepur, Ludhiana and Mohali while 131 new cases have been reported.

The positivity rate of Covid-19 in Punjab stands at 2.02 per cent and the number of active cases has reached 921. The Punjab Health Department on Monday conducted 6,475 tests.

On the other hand, Mohali and Ludhiana have turned hotspots in Punjab. On Monday, as many as 42 persons were found Covid 19 positive in the district. The positivity rate stands at 17 per cent. In Ludhiana, 30 patients were found infected with coronavirus. The district's positivity rate is 1.18 per cent. A total of 22 samples were taken in Bathinda district and 11 of them came as positive. A total of 11 cases were found in Jalandhar and Patiala.

Meanwhile, India recorded 11,793 new Covid-19 infections, taking the country's tally to 4,34,18,839, while the active cases rose to 96,700, the Union Health Ministry said on Tuesday.

Covid rears its head in Punjab again; Mohali Ludhiana hotspots The coronavirus death toll climbed to 5,25,047 with 27 new fatalities, data updated at 8 am by the ministry stated. The active Covid cases comprise 0.22 per cent of the total infections. The national Covid-19 recovery rate was recorded at 98.57 per cent, the health ministry said. An increase of 2,280 cases has been recorded in the active Covid-19 case count in a span of 24 hours.
