Following an alert on the likelihood of terror strikes, the special cell of the Delhi Police conducted raids at several places in the national capital. The move came after the police were tipped off on an A category threat about the possible presence of “three to four highly motivated terrorists” of Jaish-e-Mohammed (JeM) in the NCR region.

Raids were conducted at Seelampur, Jamia Nagar, Paharganj area and a few other locations of Delhi late on Wednesday night. Delhi Police, along with intelligence officials, conducted raids across nine locations in Delhi from 9 pm onwards on Wednesday. Sources said security was beefed up at defense installations after an ‘orange alert’ was issued for the national capital.
The threat of terror strikes warranting a red alert comes in the wake of the abrogation of Article 370 of the Indian Constitution, which led to the scrapping of the special status of Jammu and Kashmir.
