DSGMC to organise summer camps to teach punjabi and turban tying

The  Delhi Sikh Gurudwara Management Committee (DSGMC) has decided to organize summer camps in the schools and Gurudwara Sahib to teach Punjabi language and turban tying to the students.

In a statement released here today, the DSGMC General Secretary Mr. Manjinder Singh Sirsa disclosed that  in these camps everyone will be taught Punjab language free of cost.  He said that as Punjabi language is not confined to any religion and it is a language of heritage which is spoken in all the major northern states including Punjab, Haryana, Jammu &Kashmir, Rajasthan and  others.


He said that a large number of people speak Punjabi in Pakistan also. He said that Punjabi is richest language of the world and every Punjabi feels honoured to speak Punjabi. He said that these camps will provide a golden opportunity to those who want to learn the language and everyone is welcome to learn the language in these camps. He said that writing and reading of Punjabi will be taught in these camps.

He also said that apart from teaching Punjabi language different types of competitions will be conducted including painting, drawing and quiz based on education of history and mother tongue.

 Mr. Sirsa said that teaching on Turban tying will be a special feature in these camps. He said that it is objective of the DSGMC that youth  should tie Turbans instead of Patkas. He said that experts of Turban tying will teach youth art of tying in different styles.

He said also disclosed that in these camps parents will be updated on need to speak Punjabi in their homes and why Turban tying is also essential for male members. He said that not only this but participants will also get knowledge about our rich culture and history and religious studies too.

He urged people from all walks of life to take advantage of these camps and learn Punjabi language which can be done rising above the religious lines.
