Actor Mukul Dev, known for roles in 'Son of Sardaar' and 'Jai Ho', dies at 54; tributes pour in
PTC News Desk: Bollywood actor Mukul Dev, known for roles in 'Son of Sardaar' and 'Jai Ho', passed away at the age of 54 on Saturday. He was admitted in ICU after his health deteriorated consistently for afew days. He is survived by his brother Rahul Dev.
Vindu Dara Singh, who was his co-star in 'Son of Sardar', confirmed the news on social media handles. “After his parents' death, Mukul was keeping to himself. He would not even step out of the house or meet anyone. His health deteriorated in the last few days and he was in the hospital. My condolences to his brother and everyone who knew and loved him. He was an amazing person, and we will all miss him," Singh said.
Mukul was best known for his roles in Hindi and Punjabi films, television serials, and music albums. He had also worked in a few Bengali, Malayalam, Kannada, and Telugu films. He was honoured with 7th Amrish Puri Award for excellence in acting for his work in 'Yamla Pagla Deewana'.
The actor kickstarted his acting career in 1996 through TV serial named 'Mumkin'. He also acted in Doordarshan's 'Ek Se Badh Kar Ek', a comedy Bollywood countdown show. He made his Bollywood debut in 1996 with 'Dastak' as ACP Rohit Malhotra alongside Sushmita Sen. He was a part of various other films including 'Qila' (1998), 'Wajood' (1998), 'Kohram' (1999) and 'Mujhe Meri Biwi Se Bachaao' (2001) and more.
