Akshay Kumar, Priyadarshan confident about ‘Bhooth Bangla’ despite Dhurandhar 2's buzz
The upcoming horror-comedy Bhooth Bangla, starring Akshay Kumar and directed by Priyadarshan, is set to hit theatres on April 10. Even as Dhurandhar The Revenge continues to dominate the box office, the makers of Bhooth Bangla are confident that their film will find its own audience.
Akshay Kumar takes on Bhoot Bangla being affected by Dhurandhar 2's success
Akshay Kumar made it clear that there is no comparison between the two films, as they belong to completely different genres and target viewers. He explained that while Dhurandhar is an intense, adult-rated film, Bhooth Bangla is designed for children and families. According to him, the team focused only on telling a good story rather than following current trends, which gives the film its own identity.
Director Priyadarshan also believes that the success of large-scale, serious films like Dhurandhar The Revenge and Border 2 could actually benefit Bhooth Bangla. He pointed out that audiences often look for something light and entertaining after watching heavy, action-driven films, and Bhooth Bangla offers exactly that change of pace.
He further highlighted that the film’s biggest strength lies
in its pure entertainment value. Unlike intense dramas, Bhooth Bangla is a fun,
engaging film meant to be enjoyed by all age groups. Priyadarshan emphasized
his long-standing approach of making clean, family-friendly cinema, ensuring
that parents can comfortably watch his films with their children without any
awkward or inappropriate content.
The film features a strong supporting cast including Wamiqa
Gabbi, Paresh Rawal, Tabu, and Rajpal Yadav in key roles.
Meanwhile, Dhurandhar The Revenge continues its impressive
box office run, having already crossed ₹850 crore worldwide, setting high
benchmarks in the industry.
