Three juveniles among four held for sexually assaulting 15-year-old, threatened over obscene video
Minor sexual assault: Four people including three juveniles have been arrested for sexually assaulting a 15-year-old school girl and blackmailing her into silence over an obscene video, Mullanpur police said on Tuesday.
The main accused is a classmate of the victim, and the remaining three were known to him.
The police said that the group often used to take her to a secluded location, sexually assault her and intimidate her to prevent her from reporting the abuse.
The incident came to light only after one of the accused in a fit of rage uploaded the video in a WhatsApp group. Severely disturbed by the incident, the girl reported the abuse to her family, who then filed a police complaint.
DSP Harsimrat Singh said the accused and the girl were known to each other, which allowed the boys to exploit her trust. “As soon as we received the complaint, our teams moved without delay and arrested the accused,” the DSP said.
All the accused have been booked under Section 70(2) (gang rape) and 61(2) (criminal conspiracy) of the BNS, Sections 3 (penetrative sexual assault) and 15 (storage of pornographic material involving child) of the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences Act, and 66E along with 66B of the Information Technology Act.
Police has launched investigation into the matter and are currently examining the digital evidence.
