Sachin Tendulkar expresses 'super impression' for Vicky Kaushal in 'Sam Bahadur,' actor hails Tendulkar as childhood hero
Sam Bahadur: Sachin Tendulkar, the cricket legend, graced the special screening of Vicky Kaushal's latest biopic drama, "Sam Bahadur," in Mumbai. Accompanied by his wife, Anjali Tendulkar, Sachin attended the event alongside fellow cricketers Zaheer Khan and Ajit Agarkar.
Praising Vicky Kaushal's portrayal of Field Marshal Sam Manekshaw in the film, Sachin expressed his admiration for the actor's performance. "It's a very good film. I was super impressed by Vicky's acting. It truly felt like Field Marshal Sam Manekshaw was present. The body language was incredible. It's an important film for all generations to watch, to know the history of our country," remarked Sachin after the screening.
Following the screening, Vicky Kaushal took to Instagram, sharing a picture with Sachin Tendulkar and expressing his gratitude. "My childhood hero saw my Film today! #IAmOk !!! Thank you @sachintendulkar Sir for your kind words... I'll cherish them for a lifetime," wrote Vicky in his post.
"Sam Bahadur" made a decent start at the box office, collecting ₹5.50 crores on its opening day in India. Trade analyst Taran Adarsh shared the update on Instagram, highlighting the need for increased business over the weekend to attain a respectable total. He noted that the film showed momentum in evening shows on the first day, collecting ₹6.25 crores.
Directed by Meghna Gulzar, "Sam Bahadur" also features Sanya Malhotra and Fatima Sana Shaikh in lead roles. The movie delves into the life of India's first Field Marshal, Sam Manekshaw, showcasing his illustrious military career spanning over four decades and five wars. Fondly known as 'Sam Bahadur,' Manekshaw played a pivotal role in India's history, notably leading the Indian Army to victory in the 1971 Indo-Pak war, leading to the formation of Bangladesh.
Vicky Kaushal, essaying the lead role, expressed the immense responsibility and honor of portraying such an iconic figure. He emphasized the dedication poured into bringing Manekshaw's story to life on screen, expressing gratitude for being part of a project that celebrates an inspiring national hero. "Sam Bahadur" marks Vicky's second collaboration with director Meghna Gulzar after the critically acclaimed film "Raazi."
