Shilpa Shetty celebrates Durga Ashtami: Durga Ashtami also known as Ashtami, is widely observed throughout the country. This auspicious day is devoted to Maa Mahagauri, one of Maa Durga's nine avatars. It is also called as Durgashtami by those who observe Durga Puja and is one of the most significant days of the long celebrations. 

On this auspicious day, Bollywood actress Shilpa Shetty, participated in 'Kanya Pujan' with her adorable daughter Samisha at home. A heartwarming video of their ceremony was shared on the internet.


Taking to her Instagram handle, Shilpa Shetty dropped the video which showcases the glimpses of Shilpa lovingly washing Samisha's feet before adorning her with aarti and offering prasad. 

Shilpa Shetty can be seen dressed up in vibrant rani pink kurti and her daughter Samisha dressed in a matching pink crop top and skirt.

The video concludes with a glimpse of traditional Navratra food.

Shilpa Shetty tied knot with businessman Raj Kundra in 2009 and were blessed with first child- Viaan in 2012. The couple welcomed their second child Samisha in 2020. Through their social media presence, the family offers fans a glimpse into their lives, showcasing moments beyond the dazzle of Bollywood.

Goddess Durga followers on Ashtami hold Kanya/Kumari Puja or Kanjak by worshipping young unmarried girls. They are considered divine forms of Goddess Shakti and honoured with special Navratri gifts. Worshippers wash their feet, offer them red dupatta, bangles, and a few other signs of thanks, and pray for their blessings in this ritual.
