Garbage dump yard in Amritsar transformed into mini-forest
Amritsar (Punjab), July 19: In a bid for a greener future, the administration of Amritsar city has turned a polluted garbage dump yard at an industrial site into a mini forest.
According to officials, the land has undergone a total recast and plantations have been done all over.
A number of trees have been planted on the 3-acre property.
"It is the oldest industrial focal point of Amritsar. In just three months 3-acre of land at the dump yard has turned into a green forest. There are 65 varieties of trees that have been planted here," Additional Commissioner, Income-tax department, Rohit Mehra stated.

The Golden Temple's home city has severe pollution levels. The main causes include vehicle pollution, burning, stubble and straw burning, among others.
Prior to this, a conference titled "Future Lies in Environment Protection" was held on the Chitkara University campus in Punjab. During this seminar, several topics like tree planting, wastewater management, and environmental protection were highlighted.
