Gujarat rains: Teams rescue 811 people in Navsari in single day, says Relief Commissioner

Gandhinagar (Gujarat), July 15: As many as 811 people were rescued in the Navsari district of Gujarat in a single day, P. Swaroop, Relief Commissioner said on Friday.


Due to the heavy rains and rising river levels in the Purna, Navsari has witnessed severe damage. As a result of the Maharashtra dams overflowing, the Purna river's water level has increased. An official statement from the Chief Minister's Office read, "The district administration team worked from the previous night to 5:30 am today and rescued all the people who were stuck."

Furthermore, the collector of Navsari informed during the video conference that Chief Minister Bhupender Patel took to take account of the prevailing situation in the state that a total of 811 people have been rescued in one day in Navsari.

He further directed them to provide necessary financial assistance to the people who suffered losses and said, "now as the water has subsided, the work to stop the epidemic from spreading anymore should be done effectively and the destroyed roads across the state must be repaired so that the citizens do not face any difficulties."
