Gurmeet Ram Rahim to establish Dera Sacha Sauda in Punjab's Sunam
Sunam, October 21: In a virtual dialogue with Dera followers, Gurmeet Singh Ram Rahim got acquainted with the sangat of Sunam block of Sangrur district of Punjab on Thursday. Dera premis expressed their desire to convert Sunam Naam Charcha Ghar into Dera in before Ram Rahim, to which he agreed later.

Agreeing in the request made by Dera followers Ram Rahim issued orders to the admin block responsible. Ram Rahim asked the premis whether there is a place to build a dera. The followers said that they would buy the land around Naam Charcha Ghar. Ram Rahim agreed to this. In such a situation, now a dera will be formed in Punjab. Meanwhile, the premis also introduced a member of the family of Shaheed Udham Singh to Ram Rahim. Until now, the second largest dera is in Salabatpura in Bathinda, Punjab, comes second after Sirsa headquarters of Haryana.
Notably, the opposition also alleged that Ram Rahim was granted parole due to the forthcoming bypolls.
He was convicted by a special CBI court in Panchkula in August 2017 for raping two women followers. While, on October 8, 2021, the court convicted Ram Rahim and four others in connection with former Dera manager Ranjit Singh's murder case.
Ranjit Singh was murdered in 2002 on the premises of Dera Sacha Sauda.
CBI had registered the case on the orders passed by the High Court of Punjab and Haryana in the year 2003 and taken over the investigation of the case earlier registered at Police Station Sadar in Kurukshetra.
It was alleged that Ranjit Singh was murdered on July 10, 2002, when he was working in his fields at village Khanpur Kolian of Kurukshetra district in Haryana.
