As per ATC, the aircraft departed from Ahmadabad at 1339 IST (0809 UTC) from runway 23. It gave a MAYDAY Call to ATC, but thereafter, no response was given by the aircraft to the calls made by ATC. PTC Web Desk: An Air India flight bound for London met with a serious accident during takeoff at Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel International Airport in Ahmedabad on Thursday evening, triggering a full-scale emergency response. According to initial reports, the crash occurred during routine operations on the runway. The exact cause of the mishap remains unconfirmed, but the authorities responded immediately upon receiving the alert.

The Ahmedabad Fire and Emergency Services Department swiftly dispatched over five fire tenders from different divisions across the city. “Emergency fire control operations are ongoing at the site as a precautionary measure,” confirmed a senior official from the fire department.


The aircraft was reportedly carrying 242 passengers, and while the exact number of injuries remains unknown, several individuals are feared to have sustained injuries.

The airport authorities have launched a preliminary internal investigation, and technical experts are currently assessing both the cause of the crash and the extent of damage to the aircraft.
