HC imposes Rs One lakh fine on Punjab government for raking up 16 year old issue The Punjab and Haryana High Court on Wednesday imposed a fine of Rs 1,00,000 on Punjab government for raking up 16 year old issue of penal rent. The petitioner had filed a petition in High Court to take a recall on the matter of penal rent.The Chief Justice dismissed the petition and imposed a fine of Rs one lakh on the government. A division bench of Chief Justice Krishna Murari and Justice Arun Palli also ordered the government to investigate that on whose behalf the petition has been filed in 16 year old case. The court also ordered to recover the penalty from the officials who had filed the petition. - PTC News
