Home testing kit for COVID-19 gets approval, guidelines issued on who should use

MyLab Home testing kit for COVID-19: The Rapid Antigen Test Kit to conduct the Covid-19 test at home has got a green signal on Wednesday as the Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR) has issued detailed guidelines on who can use it and how. ICMR stated that only symptomatic individuals and immediate contacts of those who tested positive in the lab should use the home testing kit for COVID-19. "Indiscriminate testing is not advised," it added. It further stated that all those who test positive may be considered as true positives and no-repeat testing is required. Meanwhile, all symptomatic people who test negative by RAT should get themselves immediately tested by RT-PCR, it further said. The CoviSelfTM (PathoCatch) COVID-19 OTC Antigen LF device, for COVID-19 test at home, has been developed by the Pune-based Mylab Discovery Solutions Ltd. The ICMR further stated that the home test should be conducted as per the process given in an app that should be downloaded from the Google play store and Apple store. The app is a guide to the testing procedure and will provide a positive or negative test result. The users have also been advised to click a picture of the test strip after completing the procedure with the same mobile phone.
