New Delhi, March 31: Come April 1, the common man is in for more trouble. At a time when fuel prices have been witnessing an increase for the last nine years, road transport, particularly on national highways (NHs), is going to get expensive from April 1. The National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) will be increasing the toll tax on highways by 15% from Friday. The NHAI has issued the revised rates for all types of vehicles plying on national highways. The toll fee will be hiked by Rs 5 to Rs 50, depending on the type of vehicle. Orders in this regard have been issued to all regional NHAI officials. On the other hand, Union Minister of Road Transport and Highways Nitin Gadkari had recently announced in the Lok Sabha that all toll collecting points that are located within 60 km of each other on national highways (NHs) would be shut in the next three months.
