India Invites Donald Trump As Chief Guest For India's Republic Day 2019 India has invited United States President Donald Trump to be the special guest on the Republic Day next year. US Press Secretary Sarah Sanders said that the matter has been forwarded to the US president, but no decision has been taken so far. Sanders also confirmed that US Secretary of State Mike Pompeo and US Secretary of Defense James N Mattis would be visiting India next month for a "dialogue, process and a potential discussion for a presidential visit later in the year." Leaders from the 10 ASEAN nations including Thailand, Vietnam, Indonesia, Malaysia, the Philippines, Singapore, Myanmar, Cambodia, Laos and Brunei were chief guests at this year's parade.
