India logs 1,938 fresh Covid-19 cases in last 24 hours

New Delhi, March 24: India has recorded 1,938 new Covid-19 cases in the last 24 hours, the Union Ministry of Health informed on Thursday. With this, the active caseload in the country has witnessed a dip, with infections declining to 22,427. On the previous day, the active Covid cases were recorded at 23,087. Presently, Kerala has the highest number of active Covid infections with 5,918 cases, followed by Maharashtra (5,089) and Karnataka (1,844).

In the last 24 hours, India witnessed 2,531 recoveries from the virus and 67 Covid-related deaths were also reported, according to the Ministry. India witnessing gradual Covid case rise The death toll has now jumped to 5,16,672, while the total recoveries mounted to 4,24,75,588. According to the health ministry, the daily positivity rate was recorded at 0.29 percent and the weekly positivity rate was 0.35 percent. India has conducted around 78.49 crore cumulative tests to date. India witnessing gradual Covid case rise The total number of doses provided in the country as part of the nationwide Covid-19 vaccination effort has surpassed 182.23 crore (1,82,23,30,356). In the previous 24 hours, 31,81,809 Covid vaccination doses were administered. Covid-19 vaccination for children aged 12 to 14 years old began on March 16, 2022. So far, 72,17,166 doses of Covid vaccination have been administered for the group, with 18,84,945 beneficiaries vaccinated in the last 24 hours. India witnessing gradual Covid case rise As many as 2,21,21,816 beneficiaries have been vaccinated as part of the drive for 'precaution doses' to healthcare workers, frontline workers, and 60 individuals with comorbidities, which began on January 10 this year.
