India vs South Africa, 1st Test: Hitman Rohit Sharma dominated Proteas with a spectacular ton, returning back to the opening position from number 6. Rohit Sharma smashed 176 runs off 244 balls and departed on Day 2, where he was stumped by De Kock. Maharaj delivered a flighter, which dipped well in front of Rohit, who stretched and stretched but couldn’t reach the ball. He was out of the crease and De Kock did his job.
Meanwhile, the South African players congratulated Hitman for a brilliant start. Rohit Sharma along with Mayan Agarwal built up a huge partnership of 317 runs together. Agarwal smashed his maiden century in the first home Test against the visitors. Now, Cheteshwar Pujara is on the crease with Agarwal. Team India has scored a total of 324 runs till Lunch.
The team selectors was questioned a lot about promoting Rohit Sharma to the top, however the officials showed some faith along with the Indian Skipper Virat Kohli, who in pre-match press conference said, “Rohit has been in the Test set up for a long time and it’s an opportunity (as an opener) for both him and team. We’re not looking for certain kind of batting from him, but to display his own flair.”
