Justice Ranjit Singh Commission investigating the incidents of sacrilege of holy Guru Granth Sahib

Justice Ranjit Singh Commission investigating the incidents of sacrilege of holy Guru Granth Sahib and other religious books would be submitting part of its report to the state government by December end. The part of the investigation report to be submitted by the commission would constitute the enquiry conducted by the commission on sacrilege incidents of Behbal Kalan, Bargadi and Kotkapura area. Justice Ranjit Singh here today visited two villages Chahal and Kakrali and interacted with the people and the panchayat members and gathered the data related with the sacrilege of holy Guru Granth Sahib. It is pertinent to mention here that the Ranjit Singh Commission was constituted by the state government headed by Capt Amarinder Singh on April 14 commission started its functioning from May 2017. The commission had been mandated to look into the inconclusive investigation done by the police officers after the incidents took place. The Commission Chairman Justice (retd.) Ranjit Singh, who was accompanied by Joint Director Prosecution Angrez Singh Randhawa and Registrar JP Mehmi, said that a total 122 incidents of sacrilege were reported in the state from 2015. He said maximum incidents were reported in Amritsar, Ludhiana and Jalandhar, 20 incidents were reported from Ludhiana district alone. He said that he would submit part of its report about the incidents Behbal Kalan, Bargadi and Kotkapura by December end. He said the commission had recently visited four district Mohali, Fatehgarh Sahib, Ropar and Patiala and added soon visit Burj Jawahar Singhwala in Faridkot district to investigate the nature of sacrilege of incidents. -PTC News
