Karnal Mini-Secreatriat gherao: Talks between farm leaders, administrative officials fail

Karnal Mini-Secretariat gherao: The meeting between the 11-member committee of farmers and administrative officials on Tuesday remained inconclusive. The Haryana government had invited the 11-member committee of farmers for negotiation and to discuss the issue of Gherao of Karnal Mini-Secretariat. Also Read | Farmers set to gherao Karnal Mini-Secretariat, hold mahapanchayat; Internet suspended Image The 11-member committee includes Gurnam Singh Charuni, Rakesh Tikait, Yogendra Yadav, Balbir Rajewal, Ajay Rana, Sukhwinder Singh, Suresh Koth, Rampal Chahal, Dr. Darshan Pal, Vikas Sikhar, and Inderjit. Farmer leader Yogender Yadav said that they won't initiate violence. "If they (Police, Administrative officials) will come, we will say break our heads," he added. Image The committee highlighted their demands yet again. The demands included an ex-gratia of Rs 25 lakh to the farmer who died during the August 28 lathicharge in Karnal and a government job to the next of kin. Likewise, the farmers are demanding Rs 2 lakh compensation for the farmers who were injured during the lathicharge. The farmer sought registration of FIR against SDM and other police officials who resorted to lathicharge on farmers.
