Manipur elections 2022: Sonia Gandhi, Rahul & Jairam Ramesh among Congress' star campaigners

New Delhi, February 14: Congress interim president Sonia Gandhi, Rahul Gandhi, Jairam Ramesh and former CM Okram Ibobi Singh are among the party's 30 star campaigners for the Manipur Assembly elections 2022. The Congress' star campaigners' list also includes Kanhaiya Kumar and Samina Begum.   Notably, the Congress has made a pre-poll alliance with parties having a similar ideology, principles, and motto of democracy that should prevail in the upcoming Assembly elections, Manipur Pradesh Congress Committee informed on Sunday. Manipur Pradesh Congress Committee vice-president, Kh Devabrata Singh, said the Congress had gone for a pre-poll alliance with five parties — CPI, CPM, Forward Block, RSP, and JD(S). The alliance is named Progressive Secular Alliance(MPSA) to fight this year's Assembly elections." The six Assembly constituencies have been left to the benefit of the alliance. All five political parties have a footprint in our vote bank. They are volunteering that they will campaign for the Congress party," said Singh. He added that Priyanka Gandhi Vadra public meeting was tentatively scheduled for February 15 and Rahul Gandhi would be visiting the state on February 21 for the election campaign. When he was questioned about the BJP campaigning more aggressively than the Congress in Manipur, he alleged that the BJP and its allies were going against the constitution, and rule of law was completely lost here.
