UP shocker: Teenage girl killed by fiancé, his lover and mother; body set ablaze to erase evidence
PTC Web Desk: A teenage woman was allegedly killed in Uttar Pradesh’s Balrampur district after a dispute linked to a love affair, with the accused later attempting to destroy evidence by setting her body on fire, police officials said on Wednesday.
The victim, 18-year-old Shalimunish, had been engaged a few months ago. The police said three persons— her fiancé, another woman he was involved with and that woman’s mother — have been taken into custody in connection with the killing.
According to the police investigation, Shalimunish was engaged to Imran, a 22-year-old man from Gonda district. During this period, Imran reportedly entered into a relationship with another woman named Sakina through social media. When Shalimunish learned about the relationship, she strongly opposed it.
The police said the objection led to rising tensions, following which the accused allegedly decided to eliminate her. On Tuesday, Shalimunish was reportedly called to Sakina’s house. Investigators said Imran was already present there.
During the meeting, Shalimunish was allegedly strangled to death. Afterward, the accused tried to mislead investigators by making the incident appear like a suicide. Kerosene was poured on the body and it was set on fire. Sakina’s mother, Zainab, is accused of assisting in the cover-up.
A case has been registered at Rehra Bazar police station, and the victim’s body has been sent for post-mortem examination.
Separate murder case in Sambhal
In another crime reported from Uttar Pradesh, the police arrested a woman and her suspected partner for allegedly killing the woman’s husband in Sambhal district.
Officials said the victim, Rahul (38), had been reported missing by his wife, Ruby, on November 18. Nearly a month later, the police recovered a severely mutilated body from a drain near the Eidgah area on December 15, leading to the arrests. Investigators claim the body was dismembered to conceal the crime.
