12 Indian flights face bomb threats in 3 days as two more planes targeted

PTC News Desk: In a worrying series of incidents, bomb threats targeted two more flights on Wednesday, bringing the total number of threats to 12 in just three days. A Bengaluru-bound Akasa Air flight (QP 1335) and a Delhi-bound IndiGo flight (6E 651) were both impacted.

The Akasa Air flight had 177 passengers, including three infants, and seven crew members. It was forced to return to Delhi after receiving the threat. The IndiGo flight, traveling from Mumbai to Delhi, was diverted to Ahmedabad, where the aircraft was isolated and all passengers safely disembarked, according to an IndiGo spokesperson.

These incidents follow a series of similar threats over the past few days. On Tuesday, bomb threats were reported on several flights, including an Air India Delhi-Chicago flight, a Dammam-Lucknow IndiGo flight, an Ayodhya-Bengaluru Air India Express flight, and a SpiceJet flight (SG116) from Darbhanga to Mumbai. Additionally, an Akasa Air flight (QP 1373) from Bagdogra to Bengaluru, an Alliance Air flight (9I 650) on the Amritsar-Dehradun-Delhi route, and an Air India Express flight (IX 684) from Madurai to Singapore were also targeted.

On Monday, three other flights—two IndiGo flights and one Air India flight—received hoax threats. These included Air India’s AI119 from Mumbai to New York (JFK) and IndiGo flights 6E1275 to Muscat and 6E56 to Jeddah.

In response to these threats, a Parliamentary Standing Committee convened at 11 am, followed by a meeting led by Civil Aviation Minister Ram Mohan Naidu with officials from the Civil Aviation Ministry and the Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA).

Sources have indicated that some suspects have been identified, and authorities are monitoring the dark web for further developments.
