20 killed as bus collides head-on with truck on wrong side in Telangana
PTC News Desk: At least 20 people lost their lives and several others were injured in a tragic road accident near Khanapur Gate in Chevella mandal of Rangareddy district on Monday morning. The mishap occurred when a speeding truck, driving on the wrong side of the road, collided head-on with a Telangana State Road Transport Corporation (TGSRTC) bus carrying around 70 passengers.
The impact, which took place under the Cyberabad Commissionerate limits, was so intense that many passengers died on the spot. The wreckage of both vehicles was scattered across the road as shocked survivors and locals worked frantically to rescue those trapped inside. Emergency response teams, supported by nearby residents, quickly reached the site and began pulling out survivors from the mangled vehicles.
The injured were transported to hospitals in Chevella and Hyderabad, including Osmania and Gandhi hospitals, where special medical arrangements were made. Several victims are said to be in critical condition. Traffic on the Hyderabad–Bijapur highway remained blocked for several hours as police and disaster management teams continued rescue operations.
The Chevella Police confirmed that they reached the site soon after the crash and are investigating the cause of the accident.
“A road accident occurred between a TGSRTC bus and a truck near Khanapur Gate, under the Chevella police station limits in Rangareddy district. Several passengers are injured, and more details are yet to be known. This incident happened early this morning. We reached the spot, and more details will be provided later,” police officials said.
