2,500 kg suspected explosives found from second house rented by arrested J&K doctor in Faridabad
PTC Web Desk: In a major breakthrough, the police recovered 2,563 kg of suspected explosives from a house in Fatehpur Taga village, Faridabad, rented by Dr Mujammil Shakeel, a doctor from Pulwama, Jammu and Kashmir. Shakeel has emerged as a key figure in a white-collar terrorist network involving radicalized professionals.
Earlier, the authorities had seized 350 kg of explosives, along with assault rifles, handguns, ammunition, and 20 timers, from another rented accommodation in Faridabad’s Dhoj area, which Shakeel had occupied for over three years. Shakeel was arrested 10 days ago after evidence linked him to the proscribed terror group Jaish-e-Mohammed.
The second house, located 4 km from Dhoj, is owned by a maulana, who was taken into custody by the police earlier in the day. Initial investigations suggest that the recovered material is likely ammonium nitrate, a chemical widely used in explosives.
Shakeel works at Al-Falah Medical College and Hospital, Faridabad. During questioning, the police also discovered a Swift car belonging to a woman doctor from the same hospital, containing an assault rifle and a pistol. The woman doctor has now been arrested in connection with the case.
The investigations also involve Dr Adil Ahmad Rather, a Kashmiri doctor from Saharanpur, Uttar Pradesh, who was earlier detained for allegedly putting up posters in support of Jaish-e-Mohammed in Srinagar.
Over the past few days, police and intelligence agencies have been raiding locations across J&K (Srinagar, Anantnag, Ganderbal, Shopian) and Faridabad, uncovering a network of radicalised medical professionals and white-collar operatives involved in terrorist activities.
