PTC Web Desk: In a major security alert near the national capital, the Jammu and Kashmir Police, in coordination with Haryana Police, have recovered 350 kg of ammonium nitrate, an AK-47 rifle, ammunition and detonator timers from Faridabad, Haryana. The recovery comes just days after the arrest of Kashmiri doctor Adil Ahmad Rather from Saharanpur, Uttar Pradesh, who was allegedly involved in putting up posters supporting terror group Jaish-e-Mohammed (JeM) in Srinagar.

According to police sources, the explosives seizure in Faridabad followed crucial leads obtained during Rather’s interrogation. Investigations revealed that the cache was allegedly stored with another doctor, Mujahil Shakeel, who is currently under the scanner.

Faridabad Police Commissioner Satender Kumar Gupta confirmed that along with 350 kg of ammonium nitrate, timers were also recovered, raising concerns about a possible terror plot near the capital.

Earlier, the Jammu and Kashmir Police had recovered an AK-47 rifle and ammunition from Rather’s locker at the Government Medical College, Anantnag. Officials said both recoveries were part of a joint operation between the J&K and Haryana police departments.

Rather has been charged under the Arms Act and the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act (UAPA). Investigators suspect that terror outfits are attempting to recruit educated professionals to evade detection.

The police are now investigating how such a large quantity of explosives was transported and stored near Delhi without raising security alarms. A detailed inquiry is underway to determine the intended target and the scale of the planned operation.

The probe began after the Srinagar Police discovered JeM posters in several city areas. CCTV footage later identified Rather as the individual putting up the posters, leading to his arrest in Saharanpur last week.

Authorities have heightened vigilance in and around the National Capital Region following the seizure, calling it one of the most significant terror-related recoveries in recent months.
