40 injured in Yamuna Expressway bus collision, near Mathura

PTC News Desk: In a tragic incident early Monday morning, two buses collided on the Yamuna Expressway near Mathura, Uttar Pradesh, leaving at least 40 passengers injured. The accident occurred at Mile Stone 110 Raya Cut in Mathura, with officials attributing low visibility due to dense fog as a contributing factor.

The collision transpired around 3 am when a bus en route from Dholpur to Noida collided with another bus heading from Etawah to Noida. The prevailing dense fog in parts of north India significantly reduced visibility, adding to the challenges faced by drivers on the expressway. Emergency response teams were swiftly deployed to the scene. Thirty-one injured passengers were admitted to the district hospital, while nine others with varying degrees of injuries received treatment at different hospitals.

The incident underscores the heightened risks associated with reduced visibility during the winter season, emphasising the need for caution and adherence to safety measures, especially when navigating through fog-prone areas. Authorities are likely to conduct a thorough investigation into the circumstances surrounding the collision to enhance road safety on the Yamuna Expressway.

Tragic collision in Rajasthan's Sikar claims six lives, leaves five injured

In a devastating incident on Sunday afternoon, six individuals lost their lives, and five sustained injuries in a collision between two cars in Sikar district, Rajasthan. The crash occurred on a highway in Laxmangarh tehsil, resulting in severe damage to both vehicles.

Deputy Superintendent of Police Dharmaram Gila, from Laxmangarg, provided details of the incident, stating, "We received information about a collision between two vehicles on the highway... Six people have died in the accident, and five injured have been admitted to the hospital."

The identities of the deceased are currently under verification. The police found two identity cards—one from Maulasar district, Nagaur, and the other from Sikar.

Expressing grief over the tragedy, Rajasthan Chief Minister Bhajanlal Sharma tweeted on Sunday evening, assuring that proper treatment would be provided to the injured. "The news of the deaths of people in a road accident in Sikar district is very sad. May Lord Shri Ram grant peace to the departed souls and speedy recovery to the injured," he conveyed.

Following the accident, instructions were issued to offer all possible relief to the victims and ensure the injured receive adequate medical attention, as emphasized by Chief Minister Sharma. The incident highlights the importance of road safety measures and the need for ongoing efforts to prevent such tragic accidents on the highways.
