Heist caught on cam: 70 iPhones, 20 laptops stolen from Ahmedabad warehouse in Rs 1-crore robbery
PTC News Desk: Electronic gadgets worth around ₹1 crore have been stolen from an Ingram Micro warehouse near Navapura village, close to Sanathal Circle in Gujarat’s Ahmedabad district.
According to the police, around three thieves entered the warehouse at night through an open field behind the premises and broke open a rear door to get inside. The incident was captured on CCTV cameras, which showed the suspects covering their faces and heads with cloth to hide their identities.
The stolen items include iPhones, Dell and HP laptops, Apple Watches, iPads and other electronic accessories. Changodar police have registered an investigation and are examining CCTV footage to identify the suspects.
The theft came to light when a security guard noticed that the warehouse’s rear doors had been broken between 1 am and 2.30 am on the night of October 21. He also found several damaged packages inside the premises and informed warehouse manager Sudhir Nair, a resident of Godrej Garden City in Ahmedabad’s Jagatpur area.
After reaching the warehouse, Nair found that a large quantity of electronic equipment was missing.
The stolen items reportedly included 40 iPhone 17 units, 30 iPhone 16 units, 15 Dell laptops, 11 HP laptops, 36 Apple Watches, 20 iPad keyboards, iPad Pro devices, laptop bags and other accessories. The total value of the stolen goods has been estimated at approximately ₹1 crore.
Police investigation underway
Ahmedabad Rural Deputy Superintendent of Police Neelam Goswami said several teams had been formed to identify and arrest those involved in the theft.
Investigators are analysing CCTV footage to understand how the suspects entered the warehouse and escaped with the stolen goods. Police believe the thieves entered through the open field behind the building and left by road after carrying out the theft.
Goswami said the possibility of an insider being involved could not be ruled out.
The police are investigating how the suspects gained access to the warehouse, removed the electronic equipment and whether they had prior knowledge of its layout and security arrangements.
No arrests had been reported at the time of the information provided. The investigation is ongoing, with police examining CCTV footage and other leads to identify the suspects and recover the stolen goods.
