Narayanpur (Chhattisgarh), December 13: In Chhattisgarh's Narayanpur district, a Chhattisgarh Armed Force (CAF) jawan lost his life while another sustained injuries in a blast triggered by Maoists, as confirmed by the police on Wednesday. It came on the day when  Vishnu Deo Sai, a four-time Lok Sabha MP and three-time state BJP chief, would be sworn in as the Chief Minister of Chhattisgarh at the Science College ground in Raipur.

The blast by Maoists was reported around 11 am within the Aamdai Ghati iron ore mine area under the jurisdiction of the Chhote Dongar police station. Security personnel were engaged in an area domination operation when the Maoists set off an IED blast and subsequently initiated gunfire on the patrolling team. This resulted in an exchange of fire between the two parties, as per reports in a news agency.

Constable Kamlesh Sahu, associated with the CAF's 9th battalion, was killed while while another constable, Vinay Kumar Sahu, sustained minor injuries in the attack, as per reports. The deceased hailed from Janjgir-Champa district in the state. The injured constable was immediately taken to a local hospital.

Notably, a search operation is currently underway in the area, being conducted jointly by the Indo Tibetan Border Police and the District Reserve Guard. This unfortunate event comes after a previous incident earlier this year in Chhattisgarh's Dantewada district, where 10 security personnel and a driver lost their lives.
