PTC News Desk: In another tragic incident, a 19-year-old Kabaddi player, Vansh from Punjab's Jalandhar district died due to suspected drug overdose in Udhowal.
On Saturday, just 7 km from Boote Dian Channan, 19-year-old Vansh, an acclaimed Kabaddi player, died near Udhowal due to suspected drug overdose.
The incident comes days after the death of Boote Dian Channan sarpanch, who was fatally attacked for objecting to rapid supply of drugs in the village. The incident triggered a protest outside the Mehatpur police station, which is still ongoing.
Vansh left the village on Saturday morning and was found dead later in the afternoon on Baloki Khera Road, about 3 km away.
At his home, many sports trophies that he won during his school and college years show how talented he was in sports. Villagers say his life began to go downhill after he finished school two years ago.
While studying at Government Senior Secondary School in Udhowal, Vansh was part of the school kabaddi team that won first place in the district. Villagers also said he had been selected to play at the state level. However, he later became addicted to drugs, which changed his life drastically.
