Ahmedabad plane crash: New video surfaces showing students jumping off hostel to escape crash inferno

Several videos have emerged showing the chaos and desperate escape attempts following the crash of a London-bound Air India flight carrying 242 passengers, which slammed into the BJ Medical College Hostel near Ahmedabad airport.

The video shows, MBBS students frantically climbing down from the second and third floors of the hostel, using makeshift ropes made of tied clothes and bedsheets. Flames can be seen raging just outside the building, as screams and panic fill the air. Some students used balcony railings to climb down in a desperate attempt to survive.

These clips are part of a series of harrowing visuals from what is being called one of the worst air disasters in India in recent memory. One video from last week showed a heart-wrenching moment when a mother tried to save her 15-year-old son, Akash Patni, from the wreckage. Tragically, Akash did not survive, while his mother, Sitaben, sustained injuries.

Another video captured the lone survivor, Vishwash Kumar Ramesh, emerging from thick smoke at the crash site. The 40-year-old British Indian, who was seated in 11A on flight AI171, was seen wearing a white t-shirt and clutching his phone as he walked away from the wreckage. Locals rushed him to the hospital for treatment.
