Mumbai, September 8: A 30-year-old Bangladeshi national has been apprehended in Mumbai for allegedly sexually harassing a female flight attendant on a Muscat-Dhaka Vistara flight that had a layover in Mumbai.

As per a police official, the incident occurred in the early hours of Thursday prior to the Vistara flight's scheduled landing at the Mumbai international airport. The accused, identified as Mohammed Dulal, was travelling on the Vistara flight from Muscat to Dhaka via Mumbai.

Approximately half an hour before the plane's arrival in Mumbai, the accused left his seat, approached a female flight attendant, hugged her, and attempted to kiss her. He also engaged in indecent exposure in front of other cabin crew members and passengers when they intervened.

Furthermore, Dulal disregarded the flight captain's instructions while the captain was issuing a red warning card, identifying him as an unruly passenger.

Upon landing at the Mumbai airport, security officers took custody of Dulal and took him to the Sahar police station. Subsequently, a first information report (FIR) was registered against him under the appropriate sections of the Indian Penal Code (IPC). He was placed under arrest and presented in a local court, which remanded him in police custody until Friday.

In response to the incident, a spokesperson for Vistara issued a statement, saying, "An incident involving an unruly passenger was reported on Vistara flight UK 234, operating from Muscat to Mumbai on September 6. Due to the severe misconduct, the captain issued a warning letter and made the decision to restrain the passenger."

"Following our strict standard operating procedures (SOPs), ground security agencies were promptly informed to take immediate action upon arrival," the airline official added.
