Bengal govt employee goes on stabbing spree as office denies leave, arrested
PTC News Desk: In a shocking incident, a government employee in West Bengal went on a stabbing spree after his leave denied. The Bidhan Nagar Police arrested him for allegedly stabbing and injuring his colleagues.
The accused has been identified as Amit Kumar Sarkar who was seen walking on the streets carrying a bloodied-stained knife in his hand petrifying the passersby who were seen asking him to drop the weapon.
He was later arrested by traffic police official when he surrendered and sent to custody.
According to the reports, Sarkar went on stabbing spree inside his office premises at Karigari Bhawan in Kolkata's Newtown area around 12 PM on Thursday, after his leave was denied and he got into an arguement with his colleagues.
During the knife attack, one of the security guard deployed at his office was also reportedly injured.
During the interrogation, Sarkar claimed that his colleagues had made obscene comments about his father which made him aggressive and triggered him to commit such actions. Police are also investigating the source of the knife and how he obtained it.
A case has been registered against Sarkar and further investigation is underway. It is also being probed if the man is mentally-challenged
