PTC Web Desk: The tragic stampede at Bengaluru’s Chinnaswamy Stadium, which resulted in the death of 11 persons and left over 30 others injured, will now be investigated by the Criminal Investigation Department (CID). The state government has ordered the formation of a Special Investigation Team (SIT) to conduct a comprehensive inquiry into the incident.

In connection with the mishap, an FIR has been registered at the Cubbon Park police station against Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB), the event management company DNA, the Karnataka State Cricket Association (KSCA) administrative committee, and several others. The FIR cites criminal negligence as the cause of the fatal stampede.

Bengaluru Urban Deputy Commissioner G Jagadeesha, who is overseeing the preliminary probe, stated that notices would be issued to the KSCA, RCB management, the event organisers, and senior police officials involved in the event's planning and execution. Jagadeesha, who inspected the site on Thursday, said accountability would be fixed and all responsible parties would be questioned.
