On May 10, 2025, Wang Yi, member of the Political Bureau of the CPC Central Committee and Director of the Office of the Central Commission for Foreign Affairs, held a phone conversation with Indian National Security Advisor Ajit Doval.
Doval stated that the Pahalgam terrorist attack had caused significant casualties among Indian personnel, and that India needed to take counter-terrorism actions. He emphasized that war is not India's choice and does not serve the interests of any party. Both India and Pakistan are committed to maintaining the ceasefire and hope for the early restoration of regional peace and stability.
Wang Yi expressed China's condemnation of the Pahalgam terrorist attack and its opposition to all forms of terrorism. He noted that, given the current complex and volatile international situation, peace and stability in Asia are hard-won and should be cherished. India and Pakistan are neighboring countries that cannot be relocated, and both are also neighbors of China. China appreciates Doval’s statement that war is not India's choice and sincerely hopes that both sides will remain calm and exercise restraint, resolve differences through dialogue and consultation, and avoid further escalation. China supports and looks forward to India and Pakistan achieving a comprehensive and lasting ceasefire through negotiations, which is in the fundamental interests of both countries and the shared aspirations of the international community.
China has reiterated its support for Pakistan while contending that it will always stand by Pakistan to uphold its sovereignty. In a statement issued by Pakistan's foreign office,

A blackout has been enforced in Punjab's border district of Gurdaspur as a precautionary measure. "Once we get a confirmation from the forces, we will remove the blackout," officials said.

India has decided that any future act of terror will be considered an Act of War against India and will be responded accordingly, according to the government sources. Earlier in the day, amid the escalating tensions between India and Pakistan, Prime Minister Narendra Modi chaired a meeting with Union Defence Minister Rajnath Singh, National Security Advisor Ajit Doval, Chief of Defence Staff (CDS) and chiefs of the Indian Armed Forces at his residence in New Delhi.
The meeting took place following India's strikes at four airbases in Pakistan in the early hours of Saturday in reply to Pakistan's attack on 26 Indian locations.
Amid the ongoing tension at the India-Pakistan border, the Union Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) has issued an advisory to all media channels to refrain from using Civil Defence Air Raid Sirens sounds in their programs other than community awareness drives.
As per an advisory from Directorate General Fire Service, Civil Defence and Home Guards under MHA, "In exercise of the powers conferred under Section 3 (1) (w) (i) of the Civil Defence Act, 1968, all media channels are hereby requested to refrain from using Civil Defence Air Raid Sirens sounds in their programs other than for educating the community."
The advisory notes, "The routine use of sirens may likely reduce the sensitivity of civilians towards the Air Raid Sirens and civilians may have misunderstood it as a routine matter, used by the media channels, during the actual air raids. Looking forward to your kind support in augmenting the Civil Defence preparedness in terms of the Civil Defence Act, 1968."

As Pakistan continued its aggression targeting even civilian infrastructure, fragments of a projectile were retrieved from Rajasthan's Jaisalmer on Saturday. Security personnel are at the spot. Announcements are being made by the police in Jaisalmer, appealing to people to remain in their houses.

A complete lockdown has been imposed in Rajasthan's Ganganagar after a potential air strike threat was issued. People are advised to remain indoors and exercise caution.
The government has dismissed the reports that India had launched drone strikes on the Nankana Sahib gurdwara in Pakistan. "A video shared on social media is claiming that India has carried out a drone attack on the Nankhana Sahib gurdwara. This claim is completely fake," the PIB Fact Check Unit said. The warship has been designed and constructed as per the Classification Rules of Indian Register of Shipping (IRS) under a Public-Private Partnership (PPP) of GRSE with M/s L&T Shipyard, thus demonstrating the success of collaborative defence manufacturing, the statement said.

Defence Minister Rajnath Singh is set to hold a high-level meeting shortly with the chiefs of the Indian Army, Navy, Air Force, and the Chief of Defence Staff (CDS) to assess the security situation following intensified shelling by Pakistan along the border areas.

US Vice-President JD Vance has stated that the ongoing conflict between India and Pakistan is "fundamentally none of our business," even as he and President Donald Trump encourage both nations to de-escalate tensions.
“What we can do is try to encourage these folks to de-escalate a little bit, but we're not going to get involved in the middle of a war that's fundamentally none of our business and has nothing to do with America's ability to control it,” Vance said in an interview with Fox News. “America can't tell the Indians to lay down their arms. We can't tell the Pakistanis to lay down their arms. So, we're going to continue to pursue this through diplomatic channels.”

A woman was killed and another injured on Thursday in cross-border shelling in the Uri sector of north Kashmir’s Baramulla district.
According to officials, a vehicle travelling from Razarwani to Baramulla was struck by a shell near Mohura. The deceased, identified as Nargis Begum, wife of Basheer Khan and a resident of Razarwani, died on the spot.
Another woman, Hafeeza, wife of Razeek Ahmad Khan, sustained injuries in the incident. She was rushed to Government Medical College (GMC) Baramulla for treatment.
