Bihar: Ambulance carrying unconscious infant stopped for 1 hour for CM Nitish Kumar's cavalcade
PTC News Desk: A mother with her infant inside an ambulance was stuck in traffic in Fatuha, near Patna as police stopped traffic movement to make way for Chief Minister Nitish Kumar's convoy.
The mother begged police to let them go because the child was fighting for his life, but the ambulance was not allowed to go because Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar's convoy was set to pass through the area.
The woman broke down as the child fell unconscious and the ambulance still had to stay at the area for an hour.
Nitish Kumar was on his way back to Patna today after inaugurating an ethanol plant in Nalanda.
All vehicles were stopped to let the Chief Minister's convoy to pass. Unfortunately, the ambulance arrived just as the police had stopped all traffic on the busy road.
The ambulance driver stated that he informed the police officer that they were travelling from Fatuha to Patna and asked the officer to allow them to pass. Despite seeing the child's condition and the concerned mother in the ambulance, the cops did not let them go, according to the driver.
A similar incident occurred in Patna a month ago when an ambulance was stopped to allow the Chief Minister's convoy to pass. The officer who stopped the ambulance was later identified, but no action was taken.
