Bihar Assembly Elections: Voting for final phase underway, 3.7 crore voters to seal fate of 1,302 candidates
PTC News Desk: The fate of 1,302 candidates, including more than six ministers from the Nitish Kumar government, will be decided on Tuesday as around 3.7 crore voters cast their votes across 122 Assembly constituencies in the second and final phase of the crucial Bihar elections.
In the first phase, the state recorded its highest-ever voter turnout of over 65 percent, boosting hopes for another strong turnout this time. Security has been tightened, with more than four lakh personnel deployed across Bihar to ensure peaceful polling.
This phase will mainly focus on districts such as West Champaran, East Champaran, Sitamarhi, Madhubani, Supaul, Araria, and Kishanganj — many of which fall in the Seemanchal region along the Nepal border. The area, which has a large Muslim population, is expected to see intense competition between the INDIA bloc and the ruling NDA. The NDA has accused its opponents of “shielding infiltrators,” further heating up the political battle.
The second phase will also be crucial for smaller regional parties like the Hindustani Awam Morcha (HAM), Vikassheel Insaan Party (VIP), Rashtriya Lok Morcha (RLM), and AIMIM, as their performance in key constituencies could influence the overall outcome.
