CAPF constable exams to be held in Punjabi, other 12 regional languages alongside Hindi & English

New Delhi, April 15: Central Armed Police Forces' constable (general duty) will now be administered in 13 regional languages including Punjabi in addition to Hindi and English.

According to an official release, the historic decision was made at the initiative of Union Home Minister Amit Shah to encourage regional languages and local youths to join the Central Armed Police Forces (CAPF).


“In a landmark decision under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, (the) Ministry of Home Affairs has approved conducting constable (general duty) examination for CAPFs in 13 regional languages, in addition to Hindi and English,” the Ministry of Home Affairs said.

The question paper will be given in 13 regional languages in addition to Hindi and English, including Assamese, Bengali, Gujarati, Marathi, Malayalam, Kannada, Tamil, Telugu, Odia, Urdu, Punjabi, Manipuri, and Konkani.

The decision comes days after Shah was urged by Tamil Nadu Chief Minister MK Stalin in a letter to include Tamil as a language for the written exam for recruitment for CRPF personnel.
