CBSE probe reveals 9-year-old Jaipur student Amaira faced bullying for over a year before her death
PTC Web Desk: A major development has surfaced in the tragic death of nine-year-old Amaira, a student of Neerja Modi School in Jaipur. A CBSE investigation has revealed that the child had been subjected to continuous bullying by some of her classmates for nearly one and a half years. The report mentions instances where a boy made obscene gestures toward her and false claims about her were spread in school, deeply affecting her emotional well-being.
Amaira, described by her family as cheerful and intelligent, reportedly began showing signs of stress and fear due to the ongoing harassment. CBSE’s inquiry also noted that despite multiple complaints raised by her parents, the school administration allegedly failed to take meaningful action.
According to the official findings, the CBSE inspection team made a surprise visit to the school on November 3. Based on their findings, the board has issued a show-cause notice to Neerja Modi School.
Key findings in the CBSE report
Classmate made obscene gesture toward Amaira
The report confirms that Amaira was being bullied by a group of classmates since early 2024. On May 2, 2024, her mother registered a formal complaint stating that a boy had made an inappropriate gesture toward her daughter. The same boy reportedly harassed Amaira again on July 25, 2024.
Amaira physically assaulted in school
On July 25, Amaira returned home in tears, claiming she had been hit by a student. Her family submitted an audio recording in which the child can be heard crying and saying, “Mamma, I don’t want to go to school. Everyone troubles me. Please change my school.” Her parents reported the incident to the school administration as well as the class teacher, but no action was taken, according to the report.
Teacher told Amaira to adjust instead of acting on complaints
During a Parent-Teacher Meeting in September 2025, Amaira’s father again raised concerns about bullying. The teacher allegedly responded by advising Amaira to “adjust” with classmates rather than addressing the complaint.
Amaira approached the teacher five times in 45 minutes for help
On October 10, a classmate reportedly spread false and humiliating claims about Amaira, leading to her being teased by several students. Something was also written on a classroom slate that upset her. Witness accounts say Amaira appeared distressed, embarrassed and repeatedly requested classmates to stop, but they continued taunting her.
During this incident, Amaira approached the teacher five times within 45 minutes, seeking help. The report states that the teacher did not intervene or attempt to stop the bullying.
