Chandigarh declares public holiday on May 30 to mark Shaheedi Diwas of Guru Arjan Dev Ji
Chandigarh, May 27 – The Chandigarh Administration has officially declared a public holiday on May 30 in observance of the martyrdom day (Shaheedi Diwas) of Guru Arjan Dev Ji, the fifth Sikh Guru.
As per the announcement, all government offices, schools, and other educational institutions in the Union Territory will remain closed on this day. The holiday has been granted to allow residents to participate in religious observances and pay homage to the revered Sikh Guru.
Guru Arjan Dev Ji, who compiled Adi Granth (the first version of Guru Granth Sahib), is remembered for his spiritual leadership and supreme sacrifice in the face of persecution. His martyrdom day is observed with great devotion across Punjab, Chandigarh, and other regions with significant Sikh populations.
