Delhi air quality remains ‘very poor’ at AQI 318; IMD issues yellow alert for Delhi, Haryana and Chandigarh

PTC Web Desk:  The national capital continues to struggle with high pollution levels as the Air Quality Index (AQI) in Delhi reached 318 on Sunday morning, falling under the ‘very poor’ category. The Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a yellow alert for Delhi, Haryana and Chandigarh in view of expected weather disturbances.

According to the IMD, strong winds of 30–40 km/h, along with chances of thunder and lightning, are likely across the region. Light rainfall was reported in several parts of Delhi early this morning, while hailstorms were observed in Karnal, Haryana. Dense fog in parts of northern India has also affected road and air traffic, with cities like Ambala, Agra, and Gwalior experiencing near-zero visibility.

The IMD forecasts that Delhi will witness a maximum temperature between 17–19°C and a minimum of 10–12°C today. Despite the rainfall, pollution levels have not improved significantly, causing breathing difficulties for residents.
