Delhi blanketed in fog amid lingering poor air quality
Delhi Air Quality: Shallow to moderate fog descended upon certain areas of Delhi, casting a veil over the city on Wednesday morning as the air quality continued to linger in the 'poor' category. At approximately 7 am, an Air Quality Index (AQI) of 284, categorising the air as 'poor,' was registered.
The last time Delhi's AQI resided in the 'poor' zone was on November 29, buoyed by light rain that swept across the city, ameliorating the air quality to a reading of 290. Since November 24, when it reached a distressing high of 415, the AQI hasn't surpassed the 'severe' category.
On Tuesday, the minimum temperature stood at 11.2°C, surpassing the norm by two degrees. The India Meteorological Department (IMD) pointed out that this elevation in temperature was expected to persist around 10°C for the next three to four days. This anomaly was attributed to cloud cover and the moisture influence from Cyclone Michaung, which made its landfall in Andhra Pradesh the previous day.
IMD scientist Kuldeep Srivastava mentioned that the minimum temperature is anticipated to stabilize at around 10-11°C owing to the persistent cloudiness. He also noted, "No significant drop in minimum temperature is anticipated in the forthcoming days."
