Delhi Chief Minister likely to take oath on February 20, BJP to finalise CM name this week
PTC News Desk: The oath taking ceremony of Delhi Chief Minister is likely to be held on February 20 as the BJP is expected to decide on chief minister name this week in party's legislature meeting. The BJP is set to form government in national capital after 27 years.
Reportedly, BJP had called for a Legislature Party meeting on Monday. However, it has now been postponed, and a new date will be finalised later.
Earlier party had announced that it would stake claim to form government in the national capital. All the party’s MLAs and all the seven MPs of Delhi will be present at the meeting where the leader of the legislative party will be elected- who will then meet the LG to stake claim to form government.
Who will be the new Delhi CM?
Five names have emerged for the Delhi CM post including- Parvesh Verma who defeated AAP’s national convenor Arvind Kejriwal in New Delhi constituency and Ramesh Bidhuri who was defeated by former Chief Minister Atishi from Kalkaji seat. BJP MP Manoj Tiwari, Kapil Mishra, Ashish Sood, Rekha Gupta, and Vijender Gupta may also be considered by the BJP leadership for the CM position.
