Delhi HC seeks status report, action plan by police on hoax bomb threat incidents in schools
New Delhi, May 22: Delhi High Court has asked Delhi Police to submit a status report over a petition related to hoax bomb emails in Delhi Public Schools and other schools.
The High Court has also ordered that an action plan for dealing with such situations be filed. On the plea of Advocate Arpit Bhargav, Justice Prathiba M Singh issued a notice to the Delhi Police and the Delhi Government.
Beenashaw Nanda Soni, an advocate, represented the petitioner. The petitioner's child attends Delhi Public School. According to her, such situations cause extreme trauma and stress to the parents.
The bench has called for a status report and complete action plan to deal with the issue in six weeks.
The bench has also impleaded the Action Committee of Unaided Schools and another body representing schools, at the request of the Delhi Government's counsel.
The petitioner has been ordered by the Supreme Court to provide an amended memo of the parties within one week.
The case has been scheduled for a hearing on July 31.
The petitioner stated that he is dissatisfied with the Delhi Government's and Delhi Police's inactions and lax approach in dealing with frequent bomb threat emails received in Delhi schools, and the consequent failure of authorities to ensure the safety and security of children, teachers, staff, and other stakeholders in Delhi schools and to avoid its recurrence, resulting in extreme trauma, stress, harassment, inconvenience, and fear in the minds of all.
Petitioner has requested that the Government and Police develop a thorough action plan and implement it, as there is no action plan that the Petitioner has seen anywhere in regard to such situations, which can cause turmoil in anyone's family and have a huge impact.
