DGCA revises Pilot duty norms; more rest hours, fewer night landings starting July 1
PTC News Desk: The aviation regulator body DGCA has informed Delhi High Court that it has revised Pilot norms which will come into force in phased manner starting July 1.
The revised civil aviation requirement (CAR) from the watchdog, aimed at limiting flight duty time to address concerns about pilot fatigue, seeks to ensure pilots get more rest.
Initially set for implementation on June 1, 2024, the DGCA submitted an affidavit to the court outlining a phased implementation plan, following discussions between airline representatives, pilot groups, and the civil aviation ministry.
Additional Solicitor General Aishwarya Bhati, representing the DGCA, stated that significant progress has been made in the rollout of the CAR.
Authorities plan to implement most of the regulations by July 1, 2025, while certain aspects, still under consideration, will be introduced by November 1, 2025.
The matter will be reviewed again on February 24.
