Drone, dogs: What led behind dramatic chase leading to arrest of Pune sexual assault case accused ?
PTC News Desk: After being on the run for two days, Pune crime branch managed to arrest the accused involved in the sexual assault case of a woman at the Swargate bus depot from a village in Shirur Tehsil of the Pune district.
The victim while narrating her ordeal told the police officials that she was approached by the accused Dattatraya Ramdas Gade by engaging in a conversation with her and calling her 'didi' (sister) and lured her into an empty bus. She initially hesistated in entering the bus however she was convinced that this is the right vehicle.
Later, the accused Gade followed her and sexually assaulted her.
How Pune police detained accused?
A team of 13 police officials were deployed at several locations spanning across Maharashtra to arrest the accused. The search operation involved sniffer dogs and drones to expand their reach in order to nab the accused. Pune City and Pune Rural Police had launched a search operation in Gunat village, including in sugarcane fields.
The Pune police had earlier issued a monetary reward of Rs 1 lakh for those who will provide any information concerning accused's whereabouts. According to the police officials, information could be shared at 020-24442769 or 9881670659, assuring that the informer's identity would be kept secret.
