ECI announces by-election schedule for 4 states, Ludhiana (West) bypoll to be held on June 19

The voting will take place on June 19. While two assembly bypolls will be held in Gujarat, one each will take place in Kerala, West Bengal and Punjab.

ECI announces by-election schedule for 4 states, Ludhiana (West) bypoll to be held on June 19

PTC News Desk: The Election Commission of India has announced the schedule for by election to five constituencies in four states. The voting will take place on June 19. While two assembly bypolls will be held in Gujarat, one each will take place in Kerala, West Bengal and Punjab. The counting of votes will take place on June 23, the poll authority said.


The official notification would be issued on May 26. The last date for filing nominations will be June 2.  Candidates will have until June 5 to withdraw their nominations.

The Model Code of Conduct has come into immediate effect in the constituencies.

With the announcement of byelection schedule, significant poll related activities have gain momentum in the poll bound constituencies.  A noticeable uptick in campaign-related content has been observed on social media platforms.

Political parties have swung into action in order to hold tight their election campaigns.
